Escuela del Sol Montessori, New Mexico’s oldest Montessori school, is seeking a Head of School. The goal of the school is for the Head of School position to be permanent, but we are open to candidates interested in serving for a shorter period.

The Head of School will be responsible for managing school operations, ensuring academic quality and institutional strength, and meeting the needs of students, families, and staff at our historic, AMS-accredited school. The ideal leadership style will be collaborative and in alignment with Montessori philosophy.

Escuela del Sol has about 170 students, Toddler through 8th grade. We are located in the heart of Albuquerque between Old Town and Downtown. Our campus is a lively, urban oasis that houses a variety of garden spaces, Montessori classrooms, and the Harwood Art Center, the organization’s community outreach program. Escuela del Sol Montessori, New Mexico’s oldest Montessori school, is seeking an Elementary Guide for our 9-12, Upper Elementary Community.  

The ideal candidate for this position must have an AMS or AMI credential and classroom experience. We are looking for a person with a centered, healthy and positive attitude who understands they work in concert with families and colleagues, as well as students. A strong applicant welcomes diversity, values inclusion, is inquisitive and passionate about learning, and has great communication skills. – Willingness to learn about Escuela del Sol Montessori, Harwood Art Center, the educational philosophy and mission.
– Ability to observe children to understand their needs.
– Capacity to follow instructions carefully, carry out projects independently and manage time efficiently.
– Ability to interact and communicate with the public, colleagues and children in a respectful, friendly, courteous and articulate manner.
– Experience with children is a plus.
– Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION:
Schedule: Full- or Part-time, depending on best candidate’s availability / Monday – Friday normal business hours.
Compensation: Pay commensurate with experience and education.
