Yellow Room: Strep Throat

There has been a confirmed case of Strep Throat in the Yellow Room. The student was last on campus on Friday, March 3. Because this illness has been identified in the classroom, we recommend consulting a medical professional if you notice any symptoms. Please keep your child home if they are experiencing fever or any symptom of greater intensity or frequency than what is normally experienced. Before children can return to school, they must meet the following criteria:
  • Fever and symptom-free without the use of symptom-reducing medications for at least 24 hours
  • As with any illness-related absence, we will need either a note from a medical provider, two at-home antigen Covid tests taken 24-48 hours apart, or a PCR test before a student can return to school. Submit the note and/or test here. While we recognize that a Covid test may be more expedient, we highly recommend visiting a healthcare provider should your child develop symptoms.
  • Students must be able to participate fully in their daily activities. If they are not well enough to play on the playground, they should not be at school.

Symptoms of Strep Throat include sore throat, fever, and swollen lymph nodes in the neck, and headache. An infected individual is considered no longer contagious after 24 hours of being fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications and at least 12 hours following the start of antibiotic treatment.

If your child will be missing school, please remember to fill out the Student Absence Form to ensure that everyone who needs to be notified is kept in the loop.

Please contact the office if you have any questions.
